This wonderfully unusual set of four vintage German tea cups pairs delicate clear glass with substantial faceted wooden holders, creating a beautiful contrast of transparency, warmth, and geometry.

Each removable glass cup is decorated around the rim with a repeating frosted oval motif, while the wooden bases are carved into low polygonal forms with circular handles.

Sweet, graphic little objects.

Sets of this type were produced in Germany during the mid 20th century for serving tea, coffee, punch, and other warm drinks. Similar examples are documented from the 1960s in East Germany.
