A study in repetition.
This set of four porcelain mugs from Nancy Calhoun’s discontinued Chambray collection pairs a clean cylindrical form with an extraordinarily fine black grid wrapped around each cup.
From a distance, the pattern reads almost like woven cloth. Up close, hundreds of tiny intersecting lines give the surface a graphic, architectural quality. A solid black band along the rim provides just enough weight against the otherwise crisp white porcelain, while simple white handles keep the silhouette beautifully restrained.
Produced for Apollo Porcelain and marked Nancy Calhoun, Chambray, the pattern feels particularly at home among the graphic black and white tableware of the late 20th century.
